[Cropped letter from William Orpen to Mrs St George with a sketch of the artist on a Dublin Street]
Handwritten letter which has been cropped to remove a large portion of the text. In the section that remains Orpen writes of how lonely he is in Dublin without Mrs St George. Refering to a painting, he asks her to 'think out a great scheme for me and let it be a joint picture.' There is also a sketch of the artist on a Dublin street, the General Post Office and O'Connell Street are sketched in the background.

Presented by Mrs Vivien Graves to the National Gallery of Ireland in 1974.
The painting Orpen writes of in this letter is the 1914 portrait of Mrs St George. Orpen and Mrs St George colaborated on the design of a number of his paintings but this was considered the most succesful.
