Handwritten letter which Orpen wrote to Mrs St George while holidaying in Howth, Co. Dublin, with his family. The letter has been cropped to remove the majority of the text. In the section that remains there is a sketch of the artist crying illustrating his sadness at being apart from Mrs St George.

Presented by Mrs Vivien Graves to the National Gallery of Ireland in 1974.
From 1909 to 1915 Orpen rented a house every summer at the Cliffs, Howth, where he and his family spent the summer holidays.
