Orpen, Sir William, 1878-1931
[Cropped letter from William Orpen to Mrs St George with a sketch on the reverse of the artist with a group of children at the seaside]
Handwritten letter which Orpen sent to Mrs St George while on holiday with his family in Howth. The letter has been cropped to remove some of the text. In the section that remains Orpen writes that 'father has been sitting today', he also asks about moving 'Mr Baker's picture' and mentions that 'wife's got a bad pain in her middle' from eating mushrooms as 'there must be some poison in the fields.' On the reverse is a humorous sketch of the artist on the beach surrounded by children.
