Orpen, Sir William, 1878-1931
[Cropped letter from William Orpen to Mrs St George with a sketch of the artist and his easel in the sea]
Handwritten letter which Orpen wrote to Mrs St George while on holiday with his family in Howth. The letter has been cropped to remove the majority of the text. In the section that remains Orpen informs Mrs St George that his canvas and easel fell into the water and he had to go in after them. Orpen illustrates this in a humorous sketch of the artist and his easel in the sea.
