Shannid Castle and rath
View of the ruins of Shanid Castle, an Anglo-Norman stronghold located a short distance from the small village of Shanagolden (Gaeilge: Seanghualainn), Co. Limerick. Visible on the southern peak is an ancient rath, or hill fort, p. 374. Woodcut by W. T. Green (fl. 1837-1872) after John Windele (1801-1865).
