Title Translation
Description
Handwritten letter which has been cropped to remove a large portion of the text. In the section that remains Orpen expresses to Mrs St George, his disapointment at not being able to go to America for the 'Pittsburgh Buisness'. He also writes that the picture of 'Poppy' is getting a bit better. On the reverse is a sketch of the artist sitting at the cliffs in Howth.

Notes
Orpen painted four portraits of Gardenia St George between 1907 and 1910, all at Screebe Lodge, Co. Galway. From 1909 to 1915 Orpen rented a house every summer at the Cliffs, Howth, where he and his family spent the summer holidays.
