Asquith, Herbert Henry, 1852-1928
Herbert Henry Asquith, Prime Minister. Born in Yorkshire and edcated at Oxford, Asquith was Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1908 to 1916. He was responsible for the Parliament Act of 1911 limiting the power of the House of Lords and led Britain during the first two years of World War I. Asquith had his portrait painted by William Orpen in 1909.
