Crofton Croker's notes refer to a plan to design the sign for 'The Pig and Whistle', a chop house, that involved a group of artistic and literary associates including Landseer, William Maginn, Galt, William Fraser, Forbes, Thomas Foster, Henry Perronet Briggs, Robertson, Landseer and Crofton Croker himself.
